Aloha no... A super sized start. Wow... 40 plus official dues paying UGH member in only 2 short months...congratulations...quite an accomplishment. So members while the iron is hot; your homework?! Let your friends know about our Guild and invite them to join too! All of you know of other builders, players, music teachers and uke enthusiasts; so let them know. Lets get the neighbor islands involved too and continue our membership drive.

Hey hey! Kudos to John Kitakis and his ohana at Koolau Guitars and Ukuleles. The Guild of American Luthiers latest publication; issue 67/Fall 2001; published a nice article featuring John and his building experiences. The article gives great exposure to ukulele making as an art and as a premium instrument. Much mahalos John. Also detected with use of newly acquired 1.25 power reading glasses, guild member Nathan Chings photo in the same issue. Photo catches Nate checking out Luthier Geza Burghardt in the throes of a demonstration at Gezas exhibition table. So congratulations to all local builders who took the time and expense to attend The Guild of American Luthiers 16th National Convention/Exhibition at the Pacific Lutheran Campus in Tacoma Washington.

Back to the local front... mark down in RED that December 1, 2001, high noon (12:00 p.m.), General Membership meeting and do come on down and put in your two cents worth. Totally informal, potluck pupus, and drinks. Parking is no problem and we can chain the kids and the dogs on campus. It will be worth the time and probably highly entertaining fun to watch your UGH officers introduce themselves gracefully and attempt to run an informative general meeting.
Laters for now...keep your G-string taut!

Aloha,

Mike
