Amazingly, the Guild membership continues to flow on in. We are now in our mid-nineties and fast approaching the century mark. With all this attention and interest the Guild expects more communication and feedback. We got the cooks back here all we need is the menu items so we can get started preparing. So people, please use the Guild website and post your questions, suggestions and ideas. We will be all ears at our General Membership meeting this 9th of March at McKinleys wood shop...pupus and drinks but of course!

Mahalos to Vince Yagi once more for taking the time and energy to both create and put on UGHs first Sound Forum. A good example of a member wanting something to happen and then making it happen. All of you who were there Im sure will agree that a great time was had by all. A large turnout of instruments and quality top-notch players...Look for the Second Forum to be announced.... It is a really valuable session for feedback and constructive criticism. All the way from the Big Island, the ukuleles of Mark Evans and Andy Berard were indeed well crafted. Mahalos for attending the event and sharing big island news with all of us.

Mahalos to the Kitakis Family of Koolau Guitars and Ukuleles for gracing us with their membership. John will make available his Koolau Gold tenor strings to the Guild and the Guild will be selling these string sets at $3.00 ea. Members only. So come down to Hana Limas shop and they will be made available to all members. Plant another mahalo to Andy Berard and the Evans Ohana for stirring up membership and interest in both east and West Hawaii. Mark Evans with Bob Gleason and Andy will keep us Oahu builders posted with Big Island news via this newsletter, in a Big Island Section. Expect more membership in Ugh shortly with this trio working to share with other builders, the benefits of the Guild.

Still available through the Guild are Koa and Cuban Mahogany backs and side sets as well as Cedar Soundboards. The heat blankets have sold out but another batch is on its way. Be here in a week or so. The Guild is working on bulk purchasing of fretwire and tuning machines...Any ideas or Contacts give Mike a call at 847-1541. In closing, a giant Mahalo plenty to all you Uke builders who submitted ukes in the Sound Forum. The players Kimo, Jake and Al salute you and we officers of UGH send a toast. Because of you the forum was a resounding success and the next one will be even better. We now have a better idea on set up and the advice, comments and suggestions from the audience will ensure Forum II is on its way. So to you Builders ...this ones for you!
